It’s the middle of May, and currently in Chicago its barely 50 degrees and raining, so you’ll have to excuse me if I may be a bit overhyped about the upcoming Summer.
While I was a little disappointed by the lineup of this year’s Lollapalooza (save for Eminem & OutKast appearances), the announcement of the acts scheduled to appear at Riot Fest 2014 has me feelin’ some type of way about our chances for a completely kick-ass Summer. Old-school favorites such as The Cure, Jane’s Addiction, Weezer, & Cheap Trick highlight the head of this year’s pack, but appearances by The Wu-Tang Clan, South African rappers Die Antwoord, Slayer, Dropkick Murphys, and Social Distortion are acts you definitely won’t want to miss.
This year’s Riot Fest will be located in Humboldt Park, right on Division & Sacramento. It will run from September 12th-14th, which means we’ve got some exciting three-day festivals to look forward to from July (Pitchfork) until Summer’s end. As of writing this, tickets are still available, and can be purchased here— they are, understandably, going quickly, although three-day passes are still available.
