Though April is not the time for me to begin thinking about the Fall, the 2016 Chicago Bears schedule should have football fans citywide at least somewhat excited about the upcoming season.
Unlike last year, when the Bears had to face Green Bay in week 1, then Arizona and Seattle in weeks 2 and 3, the 2016 schedule has the team opening the season at Houston on 9/11, followed by a home matchup against the Eagles (7-9 in 2015) the next Monday and a roadtrip to Dallas in a Sunday night contest week 3. The first time the Bears will meet up with the Packers is on Thursday, October 20th—which may also be streamed on Twitter.
Yes, the 2016 Chicago Bears schedule has the team (and the rest of the NFC North) facing the NFC East, a conference with only one team finishing above .500 last year.
The Bears will face the Vikings on two holidays in 2016: the first, a Monday night home game on Halloween, followed by a New Year’s Day game to end the season in Minnesota. They will also host Washington on Christmas Eve, which falls on a Saturday this year. That game will take place at noon.
With the NFL’s flexible schedule option, ten of the Bears’ noon games may be moved to afternoon or night contests based on record.
