September 2014 TV Premiere Dates

Summer 2014 has been red hot (well, not literally, in Chicago, at least)– with newcomers The StrainFargo, The Last Ship, and HBO’s The Leftovers among some of many new & returning shows to heat up DVR boxes this season.

Now, as the little ones are heading back to school, football is back, leaves are falling, etc. etc., it’s time for Fall TV to return. This is shaping up to be a big season, as veteran favorites Sons of Anarchy and Boardwalk Empire have their final curtain calls, NCIS will get yet another spin-off, and 2014 bubble shows including Bones and The Mentalist will fight it out to stay alive. How will you know when to watch what?? Well, with this handy guide of September 2014 TV premiere dates, of course! (nice setup, right?)

WARNING: if you’re not caught up on a few of these shows, there may be spoilers below. You’ve been given advance notice.

(all times in CST)

Sons of Anarchy, Tuesday 9pm on FX (begins Sept. 9th)

Last season’s shocking murder of Tara (and Jax being “caught” at the scene) set up was is likely to be a bumpy final ride for the fellas of SOA. FX has leaked that the first episode, entitled “Black Widower” will find our hero facing a parole violation, and ultimately, using the club to “exact revenge”. If you thought last season was bloody (it was…and I loved every minute of it), prepare yourself– no one may get out alive.

Boardwalk Empire, Sunday 8pm on HBO (begins Sept. 7th)

When we rejoin Nucky Thompson & co, it will be 1931– the height of the Great Depression. While not much has been divulged by HBO, the fifth and final season of Boardwalk Empire will be a short 8-episode stint. The Wire‘s Jim True-Frost will be joining the cast, as crimefighter Elliot Ness, and expect to see Chalky White, Eli Thompson, Dr. Narcisse, Lucky Luciano, and Al Capone all returning to the mix in this shortened final run.
