As if there was any doubt, The Walking Dead will be returning in 2016 for a seventh season.
According to a report on EW, AMC president Charlie Collier lightheartedly announced The Waking Dead season 7, along with the renewal of companion series Talking Dead, by saying, “thank goodness someone had a Magic 8-Ball with them in our many long internal meetings about these renewals”.
The renewal of not only AMC’s most popular show (especially given now that Breaking Bad and Mad Men have run their course)—but the number one show on television amongst 18-49 year olds—is no surprise; though, it’s a relief to have confirmation that season 6 will not be the show’s last.
The other Walking Dead companion series, Fear the Walking Dead, was renewed for a season two before the first episodes even aired this past Summer.
After the shocking events of October 25th’s episode (no spoilers here), there’s no telling which original cast members (if any) will remain by the time The Walking Dead season 7 debuts next October—but, us true fans will no doubt be around to watch.
